You are trained as a radio technician with a specialization in radio and sound storage technology — how did you end up in the IT sector?
My originally learned profession was already on the brink of extinction 20 years ago or was changing from technician to “salesman with basic technical knowledge”. I worked for a mobile network operator for some time and was part of the constant process of onboarding and outsourcing but wasn't happy in this industry. Since I enjoyed being responsible for IT with family and friends, I also wanted to switch to this area professionally. I was ready to learn more and made the switch successfully - something I am still happy about today!
Why are you doing the job you're doing today?
It was the best decision of my career to start with a company that already in 2009 - i.e. one of the first on the German market - offered ServiceNow as a solution for customers and still offers it today. I was introduced to this solution and then gradually developed into a professional in this area by working on smaller and later larger projects. I still really enjoy my work today. It is varied and it is priceless to receive positive customer feedback.
What do you like about Exccon?
I can work here in a job that I really enjoy. I find it best to meet customer requirements with good solutions and to be thanked with positive feedback. I like to communicate with customers and colleagues, which is an important part of my job. I also like the fact that we work in an international team and also in international customer and project teams.
Many employees call exccon the “exccon family.” What makes the “exccon family” stand out for you?
It's nice to have colleagues with whom you like to exchange a few (or many) words privately and meet up in the beer garden. I appreciate the fact that at exccon we hardly have any “08/15 — types”, but consistently interesting personalities. There is actually no colleague that I would like to pass by uninterested. Mutual support and motivation within the team is always guaranteed at exccon.
You are employed by exccon as a consultant. Can you tell us a bit more about exactly what you do?
If I had to describe my job in three words, I would say: “Customer requirement -> deliver solution.” I advise our customers on IT processes, design customer requirements on technical platforms such as ServiceNow as a solution and lead them to successful implementation. My day-to-day work is shaped by the project organization of the respective customers and my respective role in the team. What I particularly like about my job is positive customer feedback and the way to get there.
What does someone need to bring to do your job?
A constant willingness to learn is important, as the systems and platforms are constantly evolving, customer orientation as well as a service mentality, the ability to work in a team and a little technical understanding.
